Our Proposal Stories

The Wedding Website of Ashleigh Short and Max Mikros
We both wanted an opportunity to propose. This is how it went! Max (they/them): For months, I got help from friends and family to surprise Ashleigh with a proposal while on a trip to her hometown of Raleigh, North Carolina. I took her to the Raleigh Rose Garden and asked a friend to hide in the bushes and take photos while I proposed. After Ashleigh said yes, I surprised her with dinner at a Greek restaurant with our closest friends and family. In our future marriage, I'm most looking forward to it all- weekend errands, growing our family and everything in between. Ashleigh (she/her): Planning and proposing to Max was one of the most exciting things I've ever done! I wrote them riddles to solve that led us on a scavenger hunt around our favorite spots in Philadelphia. The final stop was a burger picnic at Laurel Hill Cemetery, where I asked them to marry me. In our future marriage, I'm most looking forward to knowing what it feels like to love Max when we're old together.
July 2019 at the United Artist Theater in Philly... We had been dating for one month, and Max had just braved seeing Midsommar on the big screen.

Max's airbrushed shirt was a hilarious surprise underneath their button down that they revealed after they proposed!

We found Ashleigh's ring at our favorite Philadelphian jeweler, Souvenir Jewelry, and worked with them to design Max's ring. Both rings have matching salt and pepper diamonds.

Our friend hid in the bushes for much longer than anticipated to take these photos for us. It was summer in North Carolina so that's no joke. Thanks, Corey!

For all the days along the way
