Fate, Fireworks & a Glass Bottle Coke

Our story began in 2015 when I started my employment at Gulf Coast Medical Center. Eddy was already working in the transport department. When we were first introduced, let’s just say he wasn’t exactly rolling out the welcome mat—he gave me what felt like the cold shoulder. I figured he either didn’t like me, or he was just deeply committed to playing the “mysterious stranger” role. I never could have imagined that God was quietly writing a love story in that ordinary moment, and that this man would one day become the love of my life. But time has a way of rewriting first impressions. Months later, something shifted—slowly, quietly, and unmistakably. Curiosity turned into conversation, and conversation into connection. Then came New Year’s Eve 2015, our first official date. We went to see The Hateful Eight, which I would later learn wasn’t just any movie—it was a Quentin Tarantino film, aka his favorite director. (subtle, right?) From barely being able to focus on the movie previews to me "owing" him a glass bottle Coke—because obviously glass bottles are far superior (we both still stand by this)—we spent hours laughing, sharing stories, and slowly falling into something we didn’t quite have words for yet. After the movie ended, we stayed outside the theater for four more hours, just talking, as fireworks lit up the distance and the new year began. But here’s the twist: can you believe he didn’t even ask for my number—or seal the night with a kiss? And oddly enough, that is what captivated me the most. It was rare, unexpected, and somehow more romantic than anything else could have been. The kind of spark that doesn’t need anything flashy to feel real. From that day on, our lives slowly wove together filled with spontaneous adventures, late-night talks, and an ever-growing sense that we’d found something truly special. Now, 10 years later, surrounded by the people we love most, we’re so excited to start this new chapter together and ready to say, “I do". With thankful hearts, we step forward trusting in God’s plan for our marriage—ready to grow, to serve, and to love one another deeply… While still discussing the superiority of glass bottle sodas.
