Little did this happy couple know CCAD would not only become their Alma Mater, but their opening chapter of the rest of their lives together. Rewind back to the Summer of 2010 where Ashleigh begins her CCAD journey in a two week, precollege program. She met Joe who, was her Resident Assistant (RA) at that time. The following summer, Ashleigh joined Joe on the RA team. The two became fast friends when they realized they were both art nerds who loved corny dad jokes (joe's specialty).

In 2016, after two years of dating, partially long distance due to Joe’s job relocating him to Cincinnati, Joe knows in his heart that Ashleigh is the woman he wants to marry. He hatches a plan to propose so that he can have her by his side for the rest of his life. For Ashleigh's 25th birthday, Joe planned a surprise weekender to Hocking Hills Cabins (The Hocking Hills area is nostalgic to them because of time spent there for RAs getaways in college). They visited Hocking Hills Winery under the guise of birthday fun. It was there, with clammy hands and beads of sweat that Joe dropped to one knee to propose and before he could complete his sentence, Ashleigh yelled “Yes”! They are both excited and elated for everyone to partake in their special day as they continue their lives together as one.
