Our Story

# GrandmaWingwoman

One Sunday at church, Ashlei had hopes of connecting with more people in the congregation. So she decided to sit on the opposite side of her church's sanctuary from her usual seat. And what a connection she made! That day in God's divine timing, she sat next to Bob and Jill Flynt, Gavin's grandparents. After service, they struck up a great conversation, which involved much of Jill trying to sell the idea of her grandson to Ashlei in hopes of their meeting. This was incredibly humorous. Over the weeks that followed, each Sunday and each conversation drew their friendship closer. And each Sunday, Jill would try to convince Ashlei to meet Gavin. Little did Ashlei know that Jill was having the same conversations with Gavin. Eventually, Jill would give one last attempt to get Gavin to come with her to church to meet this girl she'd met. On May 4th, 2025 Gavin agreed to join his grandparents at church to meet Ashlei. It was evident from their first conversation that their relationship would be in God's hands. After meeting for an afternoon of coffee and a morning of attempting to surf, Gavin officially asked Ashlei on their first date! Thankfully she said "yes!" May 24th, 2025 was a genuinely wonderful evening. One week later, on a sunset beach stroll, Gavin asked Ashlei to be his girlfriend. After about ten incredible months of adventure, friendship, and love, Gavin asked Ashlei to marry him on that same beach. God is so good always! We want to say thank you to everyone who has supported us and our relationship. We would not be where we are without all of the love and support we have received over the course of our lives. We can not wait to celebrate God's faithfulness in our relationship with all of you on October 25th, 2026.

Psalm 34:3

"Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together!"

We ask that leading up to our wedding you would take time to pray over our upcoming marriage. That it would be love filled, sacrificial, and that our marriage would live out the words of Psalm 34:3.

First Thoughts

Ashlei I was very skeptical to meet Gavin, I was very certain I was content on my own but agreed out of politeness. Then I met him. I walked into church and he stood up to shake my hand, boys don't do that too often anymore. I really just thought he was sweet, I had no clue then the depth of that truth. Gavin I was sitting in the church sanctuary, and I saw a group of girls out of the corner of my eye. I thought the first one was very beautiful, then she turned into my row, and I realized it was Ashlei; I thought, "oh crap she is very beautiful". This made me extremely nervous, so much so that I dropped my stuff under the seat trying to move it for her. But from our first conversation it was clear how God-fearing, kind, and caring she was.
