About The Beekman

The Beekman Hotel, then known as Temple Court, originally opened in 1883 as one of the first skyscrapers in Manhattan and features an open 9-story atrium in the center. That year also marked the opening of the Brooklyn Bridge, which is just a short walk away. The historic site of the Beekman housed law offices in the Victorian era, was the former home of NYU & the Mercantile Library Association, and was the site of the New York premiere of Shakespeare's Hamlet in 1761.
