Our good friend and now maid of honor, Dana, played matchmaker for several months knowing we'd be a perfect fit. Our first interaction was on Kevin's birthday at a happy hour. He stumbled over some words and said my eyes looked like the Baltic Sea. We bumped into each other several times after that with coordinated planning from Dana. But I knew he was something special after that first clumsy compliment.
Kevin, Crosby and I went on vacation to Maui, Hawaii over spring break. Kevin and I have been together for years; we had discussed marriage but it was not top of mind -- all of this to say, I was 100% not expecting it. Kevin carried the ring in his backpack for five days waiting for the perfect moment. On the last day, he took us on a helicopter ride. The pilot landed on a beautiful open green space on a remote island saying this was only for special occasions, but Crosby thought we were having an emergency landing and feverishly tried to put on his life vest. Kevin took me and Crosby by the hand toward the water and got down on one knee. I don't know what he said, but I'm sure it was beautiful. Crosby was in admiration of the ring, while a photographer stood aside and captured each precious moment.
