Our love story

We met in our freshman Chemistry class back when we both thought medical school was in our future (lol at that). Although our study sessions never amounted to good grades on exams it solidified one thing for us, no matter what we were doing it was always going to be a good time. Once we hobbled through chemistry class (C's get degrees) our story moved to a much more appropriate setting for the two of us: the St. Mary's rec center. Neither of us was brave enough to make the first move so we figured the appropriate way to set up our "dates" would be through one-on-one basketball games with the loser buying Chick-Fil-A. The winner of those games is still up for debate depending on who you ask but we'll just say we both enjoyed the nuggets and waffle fries. Throughout our college years we enjoyed many memories in that rec center: lots of days working the rock wall together, volleyball intramural championships, numerous basketball games, and I even met Ashlee's dad there for the first time. I would not recommend meeting your future father-in-law during a balloon jousting event, he will call you out for a battle in front of 80+ people and you will lose. As great as all of those memories were there will always be one that stands above the rest because for those of you who don't know, this rec center is actually where our first "I love you" was shared. It was a normal evening during the week, Ashlee was working at the rock wall and I was hanging out in my dorm. Ashlee forgot a textbook and needed it to study during her shift. She asked me to bring it by for her so I did. As I pulled up she was ready by the door, she ran out, grabbed her book and turned to run back inside. Without giving it any thought, in the most natural and innocent way she blurted out the words, "thank you I love you" and as she realized what she had done she quickly ran inside. Well it's safe to say we have shared plenty of "I love you's" since then but I think that will always be my favorite one.
