So a little update for you about our wedding. After making the difficult decision to postpone the big celebration due to Covid, Ashlee and Cesar decided they didn’t want to wait a full year to actually be married and so they decided to move forward with a very small marriage ceremony on their original date of November 7th. This decision was not made lightly as they realized the attendance list would have to be kept very small due to safety guidelines. The pandemic has taught us all so much. For Ashlee & Cesar, this intimate gathering allowed them to keep it simple in the city where they fell in love while having their union & love of pizza & cookies at the forefront. All that being said, Ashlee and Cesar are technically legally married now (still a little crazy) but CANNOT WAIT to celebrate next year as originally planned in Portland, Maine!!!! See you all in November! Stay healthy & be safe!
In early November, two of their closest friends (Cesar's Best Man & one of Ashlee's Bridesmaids) were getting engaged. Shortly before that, they had reached out to the couple to schedule a brunch for all four of them since they hadn't seen each other in so long. Knowing that the couple would be engaged by this brunch, celebration was in order! Little did Ashlee know, this was all a setup - a setup for her proposal moment! The day had finally arrived! The plan was all set and ready to be executed. They headed to Jane's Carousel in Dumbo, Brooklyn. As they approached the restaurant where brunch was scheduled, Cesar asked Ashlee if she trusted him, to which she said “duh, yeah.” He asked her to close her eyes as he guided her towards the center of the carousel. As some of their closest friends and family gathered around, Cesar was down on his knee and Ashlee opened her eyes. She began asking "what's going on, what are you doing?" While on his knee, Cesar said some thoughtful things, cracked a joke (he had been saying he was going to wait until 2020 to propose) & asked her the famous question "Will you marry me?" In disbelief, Ashlee nodded yes and the crowd went wild! The day got even better when they all went to a nearby brewery where more of their closest friends and family joined to celebrate the beginning of this new chapter!
Part of Pace University’s social events was an all-day long party known as Townhouse day. Ashlee and Cesar were tasked by their respective friends with the great responsibility of gathering the libations for the day. What was set to be a quick trip turned into a 3-hour long adventure around the town of Pleasantville! Neither of them knew it, but being stuck in a car much longer than anticipated was only the beginning! About a week later, Ashlee texted Cesar with a nod to the previous weekend. Pretty surprised and a bit confused, Cesar responded thinking this text was in error. However, the conversation took off from there! Soon after, they went on their first date. The classic first date...movie followed by a tasty meal at the famous golden arches.
