Our love story began in the most unexpected way—a Kindergarten classroom. We’ve known each other nearly our entire lives. From the very beginning, I (Ashlea) was completely smitten. Even as a little girl, I knew there was something special about Brody. He, on the other hand, wasn’t quite there yet—just take a peek at his second-grade yearbook and you’ll see what I mean! But life has a beautiful way of bringing people together when the timing is right. It wasn’t until our late twenties that we truly saw each other in a new light. Our first date was simple—pizza, a movie, and hours of talking and catching up. We already knew so much about each other, but that night, something shifted. We laughed, we connected, and something that had always been there quietly grew into something so much more. Three years later, we’ve built a life full of love, laughter, and shared dreams. We love golfing together, spending days at the lake with our family, and just being our weird, wonderful selves. Brody proposed on the golf course at Hefner Lake—nervous and sweet, down on one knee behind me while I was totally distracted (classic me). I turned around to find the love of my life asking me to spend forever with him. What makes our relationship so special is the deep understanding and love we’ve always had. We don’t judge, we don’t rush—we just love. We’ve known each other nearly our whole lives, but we found each other in a new way at the perfect time. And now, we have the most beautiful family, the deepest friendship, and a love that truly feels like home.
