Things To Do

Being a Charlottesville native, I highly recommend exploring what makes Charlottesville unique: The history, the Blue Ridge Mountains, vineyards, and craft breweries! Below are some local favorites.
The Historic Downtown Mall

The Historic Downtown Mall

East Main Street, Charlottesville, VA 22902

A beautiful brick-paved pedestrian mall filled with restaurants, bars, shops, and more!

Carter Mountain Orchard

Carter Mountain Orchard

1435 Carters Mountain Trail, Charlottesville, VA 22902

Homemade goodies and INCREDIBLE views!!

The University of Virginia

The University of Virginia

1826 University Avenue, Charlottesville, VA 22904

The University of Virginia, founded by Thomas Jefferson in 1819, is located in the heart of Charlottesville. With it's breathtaking architecture and beautiful grounds, this is a must-see. Be sure to check out the historical Rotunda and take a walk on The Corner (on University Avenue) with boutiques, restaurants, and bars.

Historical Michie Tavern

Historical Michie Tavern

683 Thomas Jefferson Pkwy, Charlottesville, VA 22902

Founded circa 1784, this historic tavern showcases an old water wheel and has a period restaurant serving Southern fare, plus a gift shop & tours.

Skyline Drive

Skyline Drive

Waynesboro, VA 22980

Skyline Drive is a part of Shenandoah National Park (so there will be a fee to get in if you don't have National Park membership), but the views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the hiking are worth it!

Humpback Rock Hike

Humpback Rock Hike

Waynesboro, VA 22920

Humpback Rock is one of the most popular hiking spots in town! With a summit elevation of 3,080 feet, it's a fairly quick one mile (up and down) hike. The views are spectacular! Google "Humpback Rock, Virginia, 22920" and it will show you how to get there - it's right on the Blue Ridge Pkwy in Nelson County off of I-64.

Jefferson Vineyards

Jefferson Vineyards

1353 Thomas Jefferson Parkway, Charlottesville, VA 22902
, (434) 977-3042

One of the MANY beautiful wineries in the area! Great wine and fantastic views.

King Family Vineyards

King Family Vineyards

6550 Roseland Farm, Crozet, VA 22932

King Family Vineyards (our wedding venue) is arguably the most beautiful place in Charlottesville with 360 mountain views, bucolic pastures and farmland, barns, and a polo field!

Pro Re Nata Brewery

Pro Re Nata Brewery

6135 Rockfish Gap Turnpike, Crozet, VA 22932
, (434) 823-4878

Fun ambiance, great mountain views and good beer!

Basic City Beer Co.

Basic City Beer Co.

1010 E Main St, Waynesboro, VA 22980

After hiking Skyline Drive or Humpback Rock, go to Basic City to enjoy an ice cold beer! Highly recommend Basic City - their beer is the best!
