Although we'd love to say we romantically met when we both reached for the same order at Caribou and sparks flew as our hands touched... we aren't living in a Rom Com so here's our story! After initially finding each other on the OkCupid online dating site, we connected over our love for outdoor activities. Laura mentioned she hiked regularly and might try out cross country skiing - little did she know this was a passion of Mike's! With the COVID pandemic in full swing, we chose to meet outdoors at Lebanon Hills Regional Park for a hike. We kept our safe distance from each other as we hiked around - before long the hike was over but Laura had the fantastic idea to continue Date#1 at Bald Man Brewery. As we settled under an outdoor heater with our beers and talked about nerdy things like computers and HIPAA compliance, Mike's hat started sizzling and almost caught on fire. Needless to say it was a great first date! We had many more dates and 2 months later decided to go on a cross country ski vacation to Duluth. As the sun was setting on Spirit Mountain and we skied back to Laura's car, Laura reached in her pocket for the key... and it was gone. After a quick pocket check it became apparent that the key had fallen out somewhere during the ski in the 8" fresh snowfall from the day before. This is where Laura knew Mike was a keeper. Instead of getting angry or panicking, Mike clipped back into his skis and hopped on the ski trail to search for Laura's keys - there wasn't much daylight left so he had to act quickly. To our delight and relief, only 20 minutes later Hero Mike emerged from the trail and exclaimed he found the keys! Turns out they were resting in the butt print of Laura's first fall - how convenient! The rest is history - we continued to go on adventures and spend most of our evenings together, getting closer faster than we could've imagined. We're so excited to continue our journey together!
