Out of all the ways people meet, ours has to be one of the most unexpected. We didn’t meet through a dating app, or at a party, or by some grand romantic moment. We met because, somehow, life thought it would be funny to give us the *same ex*. At first, it was just a weird coincidence—one of those “no way” moments you laugh about because it doesn’t even feel real. But underneath that, there was something else: an instant understanding. Like we both got each other in a way most people wouldn’t. We didn’t plan for anything to come from it. If anything, it should’ve just been a random connection, a strange overlap in our lives. But instead, it turned into something easy. What started as shared stories and “you went through that too?” slowly became longer conversations, inside jokes, and a kind of comfort neither of us expected to find—especially not like that. And somewhere along the way, the weirdness of how we met stopped being the focus. Because it wasn’t about the past anymore. It was about the fact that out of something that didn’t work for either of us, we somehow found something that does.
