Tender love - something we were both searching for with no intention of finding it when we did. On November 17th, we started a conversation on a dating app called Lex, and couldn't get enough. Cold nights were made better by each other's words well into the night. Twelve, one, two in the morning, pillow-talking until sleepy eyes couldn't bear to stay open. We couldn't wait to wrap our arms around one another - so, we didn't. That Saturday, despite being nervous and a last minute decision, Ash made the trip from Brooklyn to Glen Ridge, where I was stage managing a production. She sat in the audience, while I frantically ran around, trying to focus my attention on what I had to do, instead of on the beautiful girl I was yet to meet. The curtain closed and I made my way down to where she was sitting. What we'll never forget: hearing each other's voices for the first time, feeling the security of each other's arms, not wanting to stop talking and to know everything there is to know. The next day, despite being exhausted, I took a big step and made my way to Brooklyn by myself. Breaking down anxieties for someone I hardly knew. But it felt right. It's always felt right. We've been inseparable since that day. We found the truest form of a soulmate in one another.
Logan: I bought the ring in September but it was one that we had picked out together earlier in the year. Simple but beautiful. I had intentions of waiting until a day that was significant to us but I woke up on the morning of the 7th after a heart-to-heart the night before, and knew. I knew in my heart that it was going to be the day. The weather was exceptionally nice for a November day so I suggested we go to a local park for a walk. We finished off by making our way over to a little pavilion. We sat in some Adirondack chairs to talk about life and take silly selfies. Ash suggested we get ready to go but I started to panic because I still hadn't done it! So, I stalled with a few more selfies, and as I always do, asked, "Do you want to marry me?" to which she responded, "Duh." So, I got down on one knee and said, "No, for real this time." She said "yes," in the most excited voice. What'd we do to celebrate? Go home and order pizza. Typical, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Ash: My proposal would've been a lot sooner than planned but Logan's ring actually got lost in the mail! While I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of the ring (that we had picked out together, just like mine), I began brainstorming on how I was going to ask him. Logan knows me very well and it's close to impossible for me to lie to him. So, I knew surprising him was going to be tough no matter how I decided to ask. Our friend Maya owns her own bakery business and Logan had been talking about ordering cookies for WEEKS. Finally, I decided to reach out to Maya and plan what type of cookies to order and have her write out "Will you marry me?" on them. The plan was set, but we were just waiting for the ring to arrive. And like clockwork, Logan decides to take it upon himself to order cookies from Maya... because he just couldn't wait. (But that's okay, we just have double the cookies). On my last day off before Christmas, I popped the question and he said yes.
