Question

How do I get to the Wedding Venue for the wedding?

Answer

The Venue has ample parking onsite and parking attendants to direct you to open spaces. Rideshare is not a viable option. Cell service drops out once you are about 10 minutes away from the venue. Make sure to program your GPS to the correct address in advance of this. Since Uber and Lyft are not transportation options, we are providing a complimentary shuttle to and from the Hotel Petaluma and Quality Inn in downtown Petaluma for guests who would prefer not to drive.

Question

This is my first Hindu wedding! Are there any colors I shouldn't wear?

Answer

Please refrain from wearing any bright red or white saris, lehengas, and dresses. These colors are reserved for the bride. If you wear white to events for personal religious reasons (as some Hindu women do), you are absolutely permitted to wear white Indian attire.

Question

What is a Baraat?

Answer

A Baraat is a lively, musical wedding procession to escort the groom to the ceremony. The bride's side will be waiting at the ceremony area (a short walk away) to receive the groom and his family. The Baraat harkens back to a time when a wedding was more than just a union of a bride and groom, it was the union of entire villages! The Baraat procession would signal to the bride's village that the groom is on his way to the ceremony with all of his loved ones by his side, ready to party!

Question

How does gifting and the registry work?

Answer

While your presence at our wedding is gift enough, if you are interested in giving us a gift, we have a honeymoon fund and highly appreciate any contributions towards our honeymoon. We are planning a safari and the money will go to our first adventure as a married couple!

Question

I am interested in wearing Indian attire for the first time! Where do I find Indian outfits?

Answer

Indian outfits options include salwar kameez, lehengas, saris, and kurtas. Please feel free to reach out to the bride or her family if you would like more guidance on this. They are happy to help, but also don't feel you need to have your outfit officially approved before you can wear it! We trust our lovely guests have the best intentions and we appreciate any interest in the bride's cultural background. You may find Indian clothes stores near you.
