How We Met

Mike's story beings with meeting me on a Wednesday night in June 2018 at Oasis Church. My story starts when we REALLY met - A YEAR EARLIER - just before Mike went on stage to lead worship. But I'll let Mike tell his version. ;) Well, here's what happened - We were both attending a Wednesday Night ministry at church. At the end of the night, I was helping put chairs away and Asha was talking to some friends. I noticed she was leaving so I quickly stacked my 'last' chair and left not long after her. It was late, dark and the parking structure is across the street from our church building. So, being the gentleman that I am, I made sure Asha and her friend made it safely to the structure. They didn't know I was behind them... at all. We got to the 2nd floor and I blurted out, "Welp, looks like I did my job! You guys made it safely! Have a great night!" Asha turned, smiled and said, "Thank you!" "Yes!" I thought. "I made contact and she smiled, this is a good start!" Meanwhile, Asha's thinking, "Uh, who IS this guy and why is he talking to us? But whatever, I'll be nice and smile." Fast forward 2 weeks. I strategically waited until Asha began to leave and I left at the same time. The group of people was larger this time. My friend was trying to talk to me but I'm thinkin', "Bruh, I'm tryin' to talk to HER right now!" At one point, I stopped the whole group and said something like, "Hold on, we're all family here but does everybody know each other? What's your name?" I went around the group, and when I got to Asha, I emphasized the word YOUR... in my head. ;) When I got home, I emailed my friend who was sitting with Asha earlier to confirm her name. "Yes, that's her name. And she's SINGLE in case you wanted to know." I did, indeed. I found Asha on our online church platform (aka. facebook for church) and I intended to send her a message there. But - to her surprise - the only contact info available was her cell phone number. So, what else was I supposed to do?
