Ashlyn and Jonathon met in 2022. A year later, while working at Gordon College together, Jon was sent to diagnose Ashlyn's work-related technology issues. A few months after that, Ashlyn and Jon went on their first date in March 2024.

After a few beautiful days on the North Shore (and a day in Boston with Ashlyn’s New England dog Funston), Ashlyn, Jon, Greg, and Gretchen headed to Cape Cod. Ashlyn was highly suspicious of the proposal timing, as her and Jon had discussed it. However, she never saw this plan coming. The group arrived in Cape Cod late the first night. Just before bed, Jon asked Ashlyn to see the sunrise with him. Ashlyn loves to watch sunrises and sunsets, and eagerly said yes. (The extra detail here isn’t surprising for those who know Ashlyn well… we discussed the nautical and astronomical sunrise times to illuminate the optimal sun-viewing time.) So Ashlyn and Jon woke up early on a windy, brisk October morning to watch the sun rise. As the sun peeked over the horizon at 7am, Jon asked Ashlyn to spend the rest of her life with him! We all know how this ended - but for anyone who's still catching up, SHE SAID YES!
