Matron of Honor
Jen is Ashley's friend from high school. Fun fact: Jen and Ash didn't physically speak to each other until they were forced to most likely at a soccer tournament. The first few months of their friendship was based on their chats in AIM, but once they got over the shyness they wouldn't shut up! They played soccer together on the high school team and have been friends ever since their freshman year. Jen currently lives in Denver with her husband and works as a self-employed Physical Therapist.
Best Man
If you didn't know, Calvin used to have extremely long hair. This of course was due to a bet which he partook with Alexander Egerter. The grounds of the bet were simple, whoever cuts their hair first loses. To the victor go the spoils… of nothing, this was just a bet for pride, however being lifelong friends for 26 years pride was no laughing matter. From 2012-2015 many a barber was dismayed as they saw our hair grow past our shoulders. In the end it was Calvin who turned out to be the victor. Perhaps it was the need to look professional in a medical setting which doomed Alex, perhaps it was Calvin's luscious locks. We shall never know. Though his hair will be short, his role in Ashley and Calvin's Wedding will not be.
Brother of Honor
Bob and Ash shared the womb together, and have been inseparable ever since (minus those awkward pre-teen years when Ashley thought Bobby was the most annoying brother in the world and was also taller than him). Despite having a few rough patches as kids, they are now best friends and enjoy discussing anything and everything related to soccer. Bob may have been better at a variety of things when they were kids, but Ash finally beat him at one thing: getting married first! Bob is a mechanical engineer at a start-up in San Diego. Make sure to ask him about his electrical hot/cold pack.
Brother of Honor
Tom Doval has known Calvin Doval for a long time, though they didn't share the womb together or maybe much of anything else. Brotherly love, also known as brotherly competition ran rampant through the early years of the Doval household. In order to repay all of the times Calvin reigned supreme over Tom, Calvin has generously offered Tom the regal and prestigious position of brother of honor. Be sure to ask Tom about this historic rivalry after he participates in Ashley and Calvin’s wedding.
Bridesmaid
Lexi is Ashley's teammate and friend from UC Davis. Lex and Ash bonded over both being quite talented attackers and goal scorers on the soccer field and their motivation to be fit. Don't tell Lex, but Ash really only wanted to stay friends with her when she got her precious dog, Myli. They shared many good times in Davis, and continued to stay close after they both left their college town. In the years after college, you could find them preparing for Tahoe Trail Ragnar, which is becoming their favorite event to do together. She is a School Psychologist in Tracy, CA and lives with her husband and two dogs.
Groomsman
Since 2010 Calvin has been trying to get Fareed to play his violin more, so if you see Fareed at the wedding be sure to ask him to play the violin. You should also ask him how to cook any type of meat, how to make a juicy lucy, home made pizzas, home made pasta, lobster tail and any number of other food dishes. In fact, Calvin hopes Fareed will invite him over to make a home made arugula feta cheese and caramelized onion pizza, but first Fareed must participate as a groomsman in Ashley and Calvin's wedding.
Bridesmaid
Ish is Ashley's teammate, roommate, and friend from UC Davis. Ash got extra lucky with this one because Ish was already a resident of the 3rd and J house when she moved in, which made it so Ish had to be friends with her. They shared many good times together dancing and singing in the kitchen, watching movies, eating snacks, and plotting ways to play pranks on their next door neighbors. There are many other good memories that cannot be discussed here for obvious reasons. Fun fact: Ish was friends with Cal before Ashley had even met him! She is currently in her first year of her family medicine/psychiatry residency in Boston.
Groomsman
The adventures Calvin has been on with E.R. Watson are magnificent and innumerable. Since high school they have done battle on rugby fields, crushed gym workouts, ate too many carbs, slept in a van in Europe, ran an annual pie contest, devoured half chickens at Oktoberfest, drank wine in Paris, sailed in Santa Cruz, built startups, destroyed startups, drank too much, drank too little, ran Angel's Landing, lost in Fantasy Football, and driven on I5 for too long. Undoubtedly these adventures will continue after Eric participates as a groomsman in Ashley and Calvin's wedding.
Bridesmaid
Jill and Ash met when Jill joined the Davis soccer team for Ash's senior year as a freshman. They had one of those fun senior-freshman friendships until Ash graduated and moved away. Four years passed until one day they happened to see each other while running around Lake Merritt in Oakland. They reconnected and decided to try to join a soccer team together, and a few weeks later were back on the field tearing it up. They enjoy being able to hang out and play together, and Ash cannot wait until she is back out on the field with Jill! Jill currently lives in Denver with her girlfriend and is still a cool scientist. She also roasts her own coffee and brews her own beer!
Groomsman
Circa 2009 Bill scored perhaps the best rugby try Calvin has ever seen in person. Of course this came off the back of an excellent pass from Calvin but credit must go to the finisher: Bill Morris. After securing the ball, Bill proceeded to fend off Jeff Van Meter (a legendary Cal Poly player). Following this amazing feat he began to run at approximately 2093 mph down the field, then he side stepped the legendary All Black Ma'a Nonu and beat the famous Springbok Bryan Habana in a foot race to score right between the posts. In the following years Bill and Calvin have gone to the last two Rugby World Cups, and will continue to do so in 2023, after he participates as a groomsman in Ashley and Calvin's wedding.
Officiant
An inspirational woman and one of many talents, Carolyn Gallagher has had many titles: wife, mother, wine aficionado, linguist, gaucho, CEO, sister, tour guide, adventurer, daughter, crafter, white water rafter, and entrepreneur. Calvin and Ashley are lucky enough to add another title to her resumé; wedding officiant!
