Our StoryOur Story

Our story started in 5th Grade

We like to say our story started in Grade 5… and then the universe pressed pause for three decades. We were classmates. Viel (the naughty-but-shy boy) and Tin (the outgoing, a bit boyish, but very obedient girl). We liked each other the way 10- or 11-year-olds do. Corny jokes, stolen glances, pretending not to care. We both knew it was puppy love. Cute, innocent, and short. Before the school year ended, Viel gave Tin a studio picture of him with a sweet dedication at the back. Tin kept it. Then life did its thing. High school? Our schools were literally divided by a wall, but we never met. College and early adult life? Totally separate roads. Tin flew to the US, Viel stayed in the Philippines and went full corporate life. No drama, no falling out, just life moving forward. Fast forward: social media. One day, we saw each other online. And it felt like childhood knocking. The conversation was so easy, not “Hi, stranger” but “Uy, ikaw nga!” We started catching up, and it didn’t feel like we were starting something new… it felt like we were resuming something old. Tin came home. We saw each other again. This time, not as kids, but as two people who already knew what they wanted. But we also knew we had to honor the lives we already built. There were things to finish, seasons to close, responsibilities to do right. So we waited. Not a few months. Ten years. Ten years of “konting tiis pa,” of choosing each other quietly, of trusting God’s timing, of letting real life catch up with real love. And finally... finally, the road cleared. No more “later,” no more “pag-ok na.” Just us. So here we are: the Grade 5 classmates who had puppy love… who grew up… who found each other again… and are now marrying each other. And in case you’re wondering.. yes, Tin still has that old photo of Viel.
