Cartagena has the International Rafael Nuñez Airport, where you can fly directly from Miami, New York, Atlanta, and Los Angeles. If you are doing some pre-wedding travels, you can also fly into Bogota, Medellin, Cali, and Barranquilla, and from there, you can fly domestically to Cartganea. Travel Note
Check-mig. This is a required pre-arrival form. You'll need to show it when you land in Colombia.
Travel Note
Uber or DiDi are the best options for transportation. Once you arrive at the airport, there is free WiFi for 30 minutes. Your Uber app will work the same, just plug in the address of your destination.
Travel Note
The U.S. dollar is strong in Colombia. We recommend bringing some cash with you (you can pre-order from your bank), if you want to buy things from small vendors. However, all main venues and restaurants accept major credit cards. Check the link below if you want to calculate the current rate.
Travel Note
You can either purchase international roaming from your cell phone provider, purchase a SIM card at the airport, or, we recommend downloading Airalo through the App Store.
Hotel
There are a wide variety of hotel options in Cartagena. There are options for every budget including larger hotels, small boutique hotels, and AirBnBs. Check your favorite hotel websites, like booking.com or the actual hotel site for special deals. For closest proximity to the venue, we recommend staying anywhere within the historic Walled City (~15 mins drive from airport). If you feel a little adventurous, Getsemani is a beautiful colonial style neighborhood that is a little further from the venue (25/30 minutes walking). The San Diego neighborhood is smaller, quieter, and the location of our venue and lots of well-known restaurants. El Centro is the center of the action and is close to nightlife, restaurants, and historical landmarks. Other nearby areas are: Bocagrande, Morros, Castillogrande, or Laguito. We’ve included a few recommendations below (all within the Walled City), but feel free to contact the bride / groom if you have specific questions about a hotel or location. We suggest booking early since there are multiple events and weddings in the Old City on any given weekend!
