Long story short... it all started at Duet — the Nashville property where I worked as a leasing agent, and where Caleb just so happened to live (and frequently fill in for maintenance work). He’d often swing by the office to chat during meetings or while he was on-site, and while I thought he was just being friendly, I later learned there was a little more to it on his end! At the time, I was in a relationship, so I never thought twice about our conversations. But after that chapter ended, my two managers couldn’t help themselves — they knew something was there. They basically staged a setup and told Caleb to stop by the office… with his dog, Django (because who can say no to a dog?). They may or may not have given him a little nudge to finally message me. Later that night, I got a text that simply said: "Aloha." And somehow, I immediately knew who it was — the goofy energy was unmistakable. According to Caleb, he was absolutely freaking out before hitting send. One night I was headed to a Halloween party with my friends and had Ubered to Nashville from Gallatin (where I lived at the time). Not long after I arrived, I ended up getting sick from some unfortunate food poisoning — courtesy of the tuna sandwich I’d had earlier that day. Since I was feeling awful and didn’t have my car, Caleb offered to drive me and my friend back home to Gallatin, which was such a kind (and very memorable) first impression. Funny enough, we were actually supposed to have our first date the very next day, but because I got sick, we had to postpone. Our first real date was my manager’s Halloween-themed wedding on October 31, which was such a fun and memorable way to start things off. We originally had a date planned for October 29, but thanks to the food poisoning incident, we had to reschedule to November 4 — that’s when we went out for sushi at Maru Sushi and ice cream at Jeni’s. The night was absolutely perfect — so perfect, in fact, that we still recreate that same date often. Then came November 11, 2023 the night of our company gala — and that’s when we officially made it official. And now, here we are — planning a wedding of our own. ❤️
