Where should I stay while in Bloomington?

If you’ll be coming into town on Saturday, November 15th, keep in mind that it’s an IU home football weekend. Hotels in Bloomington may be limited or more expensive that night, but below are some options a bit farther from downtown with reasonable rates and availability. You can also check booking sites like Hotels.com, Booking.com, Expedia, etc., to find decent rates for Saturday in Bloomington. We’ve chosen to keep our guest list small, so invitations are limited to those named on the envelope. In general, we’re not including plus-ones or children; however, if childcare is a challenge and bringing your child is the only way you can join us, please reach out. Your presence means so much to us.

What's the dress code?
Answer
Weddings are a celebration, so we encourage you to dress festively and comfortably while keeping in mind a semi-formal-ish vibe—think 'wedding business casual'. Great options include tailored trousers, chinos, skirts paired with blouses, shirts, or nice sweaters. Suits, blazers, or dressy separates are also welcome. Crisp, dark jeans are fine too, if styled up with a nice top or jacket. For footwear, keep in mind there will be a short walk on grass and a gravel parking lot. And since Indiana in November can be 60° and sunny or 30° and snowing, we recommend dressing in layers and bringing a warm coat—just in case!

What's the wedding day itinerary?

The ceremony will begin promptly at 4:00 PM, so please plan to arrive on time to be seated and ready. Following a short ceremony, we’ll move into the cocktail hour at 4:30 PM, followed by the reception, with the dinner buffet served around 6:00 PM. Snacks and games will be available throughout the afternoon and evening for everyone to enjoy. Guests must depart by 10:00 PM in accordance with the venue’s policies.

What should I know about the venue?
Answer
If the weather cooperates, our ceremony will be held outdoors, which means there will be a short walk across the grass. The reception will take place inside the Wedding Barn. The barn is equipped with heaters and is used for events well into December, but since it isn’t insulated, we recommend bringing an extra layer or jacket to stay comfortable. The bathrooms and foyer are fully heated. Whippoorwill Hill is located on the oldest continuously working farm in Monroe County, with roots tracing back to 1822. The 156-acre property has remained in agricultural use for generations and continues to carry its rich history forward. The Wedding Barn itself is a restored historic structure originally built in 1892 in Manilla, Indiana. In 2016, it was carefully dismantled, relocated, and rebuilt in Bloomington. Indiana Barns, LLC led the restoration, preserving the barn’s distinctive timber frame while strengthening it with modern supports. Many of the materials from the original site were thoughtfully reused — including siding repurposed into decking — and custom features such as oversized barn doors and a steel balcony were added to highlight both its history and functionality. Yes, there is a gravel parking lot, including paved spaces that are handicap accessible.

Can I leave my car overnight?
Answer
Vehicles may be left in the parking lot overnight; however, they must be retrieved by 9:30 a.m. the following morning. Any vehicles remaining beyond this time may be subject to towing at the owner’s expense.

Can I smoke at the venue?
Answer
Smoking is not permitted in or around any of the farm buildings. A designated smoking area is available near the Wedding Barn, and this is the only location on the property where smoking is allowed. To protect the historic barns, this policy will be closely monitored, and guests who do not comply may be asked to leave.

Enjoy cocktail-hour snacks, a full taco bar for dinner, and evening snacks to follow. If you have dietary restrictions or allergies, please include that in your RSVP.

Will there be an open bar?

There will be an open bar for guests to enjoy during the cocktail hour and reception. At 8:30 PM, the bar will switch to a cash bar, so we recommend bringing cash or a credit card if you’d like drinks after that time.

Your presence at our wedding is what means the most to us! If you would like to honor us with a gift, all registry details are on the Registry tab of our wedding website. Since we already have a full home, our registry is limited, but we've included options to contribute toward our honeymoon.
