Michael moved onto my street when I was in college. Even after being in a long relationship and buying my first house, my persistent mother was determined to get us together. Michael used to come over and help if he saw me tinkering with my car, playing with the dogs on the front lawn, shoveling snow and helping my mom with little things. He would work a 12 hour shift and then stand outside forever talking to my mom, because once her memory started to fail- time was no longer a thing. But it wasn't until 2013 when I was hanging around more- taking care of mom- that we really started to chat. On a beautiful Sunday (9/22) Michael & I stood outside and talked for hours. It was as if nothing else mattered. It could have snowed and we wouldn't have noticed. Although he states he has always looked at me this way...9/22/13 was the first day my heart saw him.
