First time in India?

Here are some things to note about traveling in India if it's your first time. - Download WhatsApp. Everyone in India is on it. It'll be the easiest way to get in touch with hotels, local transport vendors and our planner. Please note that you may not get wifi everywhere. - Local sims: Local sims can be tricky to get as a foreigner in India. If you are visiting only for a few days, it will likely be more convenient to activate international roaming. If you are visiting for a longer duration and need a local number, please reach out to us. - Water safety: Please drink only bottled water (no tap water). - Payments: Credit cards work in most places, however, please note that India does not accept all credit cards (especially American Express). Also some credit cards might charge a forex fee and some dont so ideally try and use a card without the forex fee. Please make sure you carry at least some cash in INR (rupees) with you when you arrive. - Clothing: Outside of the large cities India remains a relatively conservative society. Please make sure you are carrying long sleeve blouses and pants when visiting rural area, temples, and other religious areas. For wedding attire, please refer to the FAQs. - Medical care: At the wedding location we will have a basic first aid kit. Here is a list of local hospitals near the wedding venue if you need to go there. Please keep this list on hand (https://www.keralatourism.org/hospitals/ac21/kumarakom-kottayam/ds112), if you anticipate needed any medical support. There is no equivalent of 911 in India. - Bug spray, sunscreen, women's hygiene products: Please carry your preferred bug spray sunscreen, and female hygiene products. Outside of the large cities, pharmacies might not carry a full range of products that are typically available in the US/Europe.
