How they met

As told by the groom: We met on a dating app. I won her over with my great taste in dive bars. She won me over with her willingness to go to dive bars (our first date was at a karaoke dive bar in Alphabet City). She told me she was dating me partially because I lived with a dog - that seemed very logical to me.
What they love

Arjun and Sonia both spend their weekends in a delicate dance of harassing and then being harassed by their dog, Sokka, who is undoubtedly the center of their home life. When they're not hanging with Sokka at home, they like to try new restaurants, catch up with friends, and plan their next get together with the people they love. A couple of their favorite dates were a drive-in movie facing the city skyline (highly recommend), and a weekend trip to Bear Mountain in the midst of a snowstorm - the latter of which was probably the cutest, and definitely the coldest, of their dates!
How he proposed

Arjun took Sonia to a beachside hotel/restaurant she'd really wanted to visit and booked a nice dinner for the night before he (thought) he was going to pop the question. However, the weather forecast for the planned proposal day ended up being terrible, full of rain and thunderstorms, so he scrambled to move the proposal to that evening. Big picture - it went well - Sonia said yes, and they took some lovely photos. In the moment though, the rain came early, and Sonia thought Arjun was nuts for trying to convince her to go drink a glass of wine with him on a cold deck, with water dripping down on top of them. Oh, and the weather on Saturday ended up being picture perfect - sunny with not a cloud in the sky. In a weird way it turned out even better than the original plan, because they were able to enjoy the rest of the weekend celebrating with their families.
