Back in 2007, there were two middle school students named Sylvester and Nikki. They were both attending the MUS & St. Mary's 7th and 8th-grade dance, where they first met each other. Sylvester was a handsome, intelligent boy who loved to crump on the dance floor, and Nikki was a small girl with French roll and a curly bang, who loved to rock out in her Apple Bottom jeans and her boots with the fur (yes, she really had both and let it be known when Flo Rida came on). After some stolen glances and encouragement from their friends, they finally had their first dance. They danced the night away, and as the evening came to an end, Sylvester asked Nikki for her number, and the rest was history! From that moment on, there were endless AIM chats, unlimited phone calls after 9 pm (😅), and secret dates to the movies, since Nikki wasn't allowed to have a boyfriend until she was 16 (Sorry mom and dad!). Their relationship blossomed over the years, and they continued to be inseparable. They went to every formal and prom together and graduated in 2013. Sylvester went on to The University of Pennsylvania, receiving a BS in Computer Engineering and a minor in Entrepreneurship and Nikki went to Sewanee: The University of the South to receive her BS in Psychology under the pre-med track. Although they didn't go to the same colleges, they supported each other 100% and their love continued to blossom and grow stronger. After several years of the pursuit of their dreams, Sylvester proposed to Nikki on a beautiful day at Mud Island Park in Memphis, on January 23, 2021. Nikki was having a photo shoot for her medical school's white coat ceremony. While taking pictures in front of the large MEMPHIS sign, her three best friends from college came out from hiding and surprised her! Having no idea that they were in Memphis, she became a big ball of emotions. After a few more pictures, they all walked towards the amphitheater. On their walk appeared a saxophonist that was playing their song, "With You" by Chris Brown. Nikki was starting to get suspicious when Sylvester took her by the hands and asked her to focus on him. Next thing you know, he's down on one knee with a purple box containing a stunning diamond ring. Sylvester barely got out the question -- "Will you marry me?" -- before Nikki exclaimed "Yes!" with tears in both of their eyes. He turned her around and she saw all of their friends and family holding up large pictures of them throughout their 13 years together at that point! Hanging from the balcony were large banners that read "Will You Marry Me?" with pictures of Will Smith, Nikki, the ring, and Sylvester on them. Will Smith was there because they had their first kiss in the first row of Paradiso Movie Theater, while watching "Hancock" 😂. Now, a couple of years and many more adventures later, Sylvester and Nikki are getting ready to tie the knot! They have planned a beautiful wedding ceremony in the same town where they first met. They are surrounded by family and friends who have watched their love story unfold from the very beginning. As they exchange their vows and become husband and wife, Sylvester and Nikki can't help but reflect on their journey together. They are grateful for the love they have shared and excited about the adventures that lie ahead. With each other by their side, they know they can conquer anything.
