As just freshmen in high school, not a clue what the future held. I, Arika, was sitting with her "boyfriend," at the lunch table, when a friend on the other side played a prank on him (the boyfriend). The friend was Damion. Later that day, I struck up a conversation with him in class. We became friends quickly. He was there for me when I had freshman boyfriend drama, and I was there for him when he shot off a firework in the house and had to get stitches. Over the next eight months - yes, 8 - we became very close, and admitted to having feelings for each other, after a very poor attempt to stop talking to each other, and non-stop talking. On April 17, 2013, he asked me to be his girlfriend, after a long speech about the stars, and saying I was his star - "I made his world brighter." My best friend took my phone and told him to ask in person. April 18, 2013, I had more silly high school drama, and I wanted a hug from my best friend. So I found him in the exact same spot he was in every morning - right by the door. After making sure I was okay, and that I didn't need him to find the problem, he asked me to be his girlfriend. Of course I said yes, and told everyone about it - even my Mom, who I never told about my boyfriends. We didn't think we would get this far, 10 years later with our own little family. So we're prepared to celebrate as big as we can, and with those we love.
