We met on an unseasonably hot day in May 2016. Arielle was attempting to carry an air conditioner up to her third floor apartment. She hadn't made it far when she realized it was a nearly impossible to do it alone. That's where Matt found her as he was leaving for work and offered a hand. He single-handedly carried the a/c unit up to the third floor—a feat he now admits was fueled by wanting to make a good first impression. We continued to bump into each other in the building and always stopped to make conversation—Arielle admiring his jack-o-lantern tattoo (someone who loved Halloween as much as her?) and Matt falling for her love of cats (who was this mysterious new girl in town?). On the day Matt was moving out, we met in the stairwell once again and Matt knew he couldn't miss the chance to ask for her number.
In October 2018, we crossed something off our bucket lists and planned a trip to Iceland. Little did Arielle know, it was also on Matt's bucket list to propose to her there! After carrying the ring around in his pocket all day, Matt finally found the perfect opportunity overlooking the breathtaking Gullfoss Waterfall. He got down on one knee and before he could say anything a shocked Arielle exclaimed "of course!"
Due to safety concerns surrounding Covid-19, we are getting married in a small ceremony with our immediate families. We are so excited to celebrate this next chapter with all of our family and friends on October 30, 2021!
