Happening August 15-September 1. Our fair is the best, hands down. Think good food, barn animals, face paint, live music, record breaking vegetables, and all kinds of handmade arts!
Alaska history & exhibits, national exhibits and all kinds of glorious arts to feast your eyes on! Plus, the Imaginarium is a great hands-on science experience for kids of all ages!
The Alaska Native Heritage Center (ANHC) is a living cultural center located in Anchorage, Alaska that promotes active observance of Alaska Native culture and traditions.
We highly recommend taking the train North toward Denali National Park or South to Seward if you're looking to make an Alaskan vacation out of your trip!
A classy-ish restaurant downtown, offering Pacific Rim cuisine and classic Asian specialties. Definitely get the fries with the wasabi dipping sauce!
A local staple with pizza and burritos on the theatre pub side and Southwestern-inspired fare on the grill side. Recommendation: Prickly pear margarita, brunch, or buffalo cheese sticks!
Our first date! And the best sushi in town. Tell Ronnie you're with Dr Hyams!
They have 3 locations and they're all good! Some of the best cocktails in town, for sure. Recommendation: Quesabirria tacos and a tamarind martini
11 glorious miles of flat, paved trail along Cook Inlet. Access to the trail is available at the extreme northeast end of West 2nd Ave. near the railroad depot, at the extreme southwest end at Kincaid Chalet, and several points in between.
2.8 miles and 1,345 ft elevation gain on this incredibly popular, moderately challenging hike. There are several other easy hikes of varying lengths out of the same parking lot. Beautiful views of the inlet and all of Anchorage!
Arguably our favorite place in Alaska outside of Anchorage. A beautiful 2.5 hour drive or train ride through Turnagain Pass with lots of pull outs for hiking or scenic breaks. Seward is home to the Kenai Fjords National Park, fishing charters, the Seward Sea Life Center, Ranting Raven (Ariel's favorite gift shop in Alaska), Lone Chicharron (tacos!), and gorgeous hikes through old growth forest areas.
