We met the good old fashioned way--through Tinder. Our first date was supposed to just be a couple of drinks in the Northside of Pittsburgh, but neither of us wanted the night to end so off we went to Ariel's friend's drag show. We saw our future wedding officiant, Jeri Rolon, performing as Daphne in a Scooby Doo themed drag night. The rest is history!

In September of 2023, we took a trip across Greece. Both of us had always dreamed of visiting Greece (yeah okay we both were obsessed with Mamma Mia) so it felt like the perfect vacation spot. We had explicit plans to get engaged while there (we went ring shopping together since we're both too stubborn to be surprised!), however, neither of us had made any plans of a grand gesture. We decided to just see when the moment felt most right. Our first stop was in Athens, we had unprecedented storms once we landed and not only got flooded out of the Parthenon, but also our hotel room! In Paros, we had unruly winds and all of the excursions we had planned were cancelled. We'd been plagued with floods, winds, cancelled boats, last-minute hotel changes, and everything else that could have possibly gone wrong. Since you all know us, you'll know this would normally be our worst nightmare. But we kept calm through whatever Greece threw at us, because we were in one of the most beautiful places in the world and we were in love! "Roll with the punches" became our mantra of the trip, which is so far beyond either of our comfort zones, but we knew that we had gone through so much together and that as long as we were together, we would be safe and happy. Cut to a week and a half into our trip on the gorgeous island of Naxos, we had a calm, sunny day. We spent the entire day laying on the beach and taking in the gorgeous views. When we got back to our hotel, Abby got down on one knee. We bought a bottle of cheap champagne, took our towels, and walked to the beach nearby to toast to our future together. It was the imperfectly perfect start to the rest of our lives!
