We met through a mutual friend, and what started as casual conversation turned into something real—fast. One of the first things we bonded over was the song “Making My Way Downtown.” Random, we know—but from that moment, we knew this connection was different. We spent the first year of our relationship long-distance, with him in Atlanta and me in Michigan. We talked on the phone all day, every day, and made it a point to visit each other once a month. It wasn’t always easy, but it built a strong foundation. And after a year of making it work from afar, he made the decision to move to Michigan—he chose us. Not long after, we welcomed our beautiful baby girl, who brought even more love into our story. About a year and a half in, while I was on FaceTime with my mom setting up our daughter’s little library, he proposed. No big speech, no over-the-top moment—just love, our home, and our real life. Now, we’re getting ready to say “I do,” surrounded by the people who’ve cheered us on along the way. Our journey hasn’t been traditional, but it’s been full of purpose, growth, and love—and we wouldn’t change a thing.
