We had been working together for months before we planned to do something together outside of work. Arianna suggested hot yoga. Then we kept finding more and more excuses to spend time together- going to a movie, out to dinner with friends, dog park visits, Whole Foods hot bar meals, hanging out at apartments, more hot yoga. Maddie realized her feelings for Arianna extended more than just to be platonic and consulted her friend Hannah who suggested she go for it. Then, the consecutive movie night incidents occurred. The first night was The Wife at Arianna's apartment. For those who haven't seen it, it's great movie, but not much of a romantic flick. Arianna put her hand on Maddie's leg in the middle of the movie without saying anything. Maddie, confused, wasn't sure what that meant- was that a 'just friends' thing or meant to be romantic?? After evaluating her platonic friendships, she realized it must have been meant as more than friends. The second night was Manchester By The Sea at Maddie's apartment- also a far cry from romantic movie. At the end of the movie, Maddie turned to Arianna and, in an attempt not to mince words, said... "So....I like you."
