Just another dating app fail? Or was it? Arianna and Jay were swiped out and were sure that enough was enough. No more dating apps! But how about one more try? What if God was doing something? What if “I don’t even wanna go,” became “Yes I’ll marry you!” Well, that’s what happened! Jay and Arianna shared short texts on a dating app that led to a first date. This date was planned just before the New Year on December 26, 2024. A coffee shop date. Both Arianna and Jay had reservations. What if this doesn’t go anywhere, what if their profile doesn’t match who they are in person, or what if it does in a bad way. So many questions but the question for the date was where should we go for coffee? Manna Bread from Heaven sounds like a refreshing place to meet a spouse, but this time was different, no expectations, no judgment just a simple date. Jay goes early to pick out some flowers and scope around. Arianna set plans to have her mom and best friend to be there just for an hour to be safe. Jay deeply enamored by the scenery, and the owner’s testimony was in awe of God. He places the flowers on the table repositioning them a few times and goes to the cashier. He tells the cashier how amazing the owner’s story and how the coffee shop seems perfect for a first date. And in that moment the door opens. Jeremiah’s back facing the door and he hears “Wow she’s so pretty!” Jay turns around and is smiling big. He walks over to the table and flowers gives Arianna hug and they ordered coffee. (Well Jay ordered hot chocolate). “Our conversation was easy and felt like we’ve met before.” They talked so long they were kicked out because Manna from Heaven closed. “When can I see you again I had a great time,” Jay said. How about two days later at an unplanned Rockets game and concert with Lecrae. “Meeting his family didn’t feel like pressure, I had fun!” Jay asked Arianna to be his girlfriend four days later! “There’s nothing more I need to see,” Jay said. She was in shock! After taking time to pray and talk to trusted friends Arianna said yes. They hung out just about every weekend after that. Shortly after talking though ring sizes and possibly proposing at the end of the year (2025) Jay did not wait much time to contemplate a proposal plan. Before heading out of town for a trip to Fredericksburg, Texas, Jay needed to stop and see his parents before they went out of town. What Arianna did not know was today he was proposing. This was the moment that would change everything. On the drive to Jay’s parents’ house Arianna was happy and excited about the trip and Jay’s mind and heart were racing. “I literally have no clue what it is going to look like,” Jay thought about the proposal set up. After arriving Jay and Arianna get to the door and what seemed routine was. His parents said hello and they started talking. Shortly after Jay was talking with his dad and stepped outside and in position. Ring in his pocket he took a deep breath, said a prayer, and stood ready for Arianna to walk out. Arianna walks out in shock, no words. Her hand over her mouth and then, “Oh my gosh! Yes, I’ll marry you!” What started out to be just another date ended up being a life changing moment.
