The LoveBirds

In January 2016, the director of the CSULA Jazz Studies program entrusted Ariana to give a prospective student, Noelia, a GRAND tour of the campus… and everything changed from then on. 😍🙂‍↕️ Noelia was from Oxnard, CA, where small town vibes by the beach and the smell of strawberry fields were her whole life up until her move to East Hollywood in 2016. She moved to pursue greater opportunities and to continue her degree in Music. She packed her bags after her last final at Ventura College, headed to a small studio with her dog Niko and quickly picked up a second job to support her Fall semester. Ariana—from Mira Loma, CA.—grew up swimming, learning music with her cousins (shoutout to the Lemus fam!), performing in her living room (shoutout to Ericka for the Shania Twain choreo!<3), romanticizing life, and driving her family wild with her singing and guitar practice.
Question

Through music and learning, they watched each other grow and accomplish their goals both on and off-stage.

Answer

After contemplating life and careers in community college, she decided to pursue a degree in music at CSULA. Ariana packed her bags and has lived in LA since 2014. As their schedule became full of classes later that year, they reconnected immediately and realized they had most of them together. A relationship was inevitable, and sooner came the laughter. It was constant, and their connection clearly annoyed a few, inciting chismosa-activity and assumptions to be made about this undeniable spark. 💅🏽 True love and support for one another flourished as friends until they graduated. All the while, Noelia was a relentless flirt despite Ariana’s attempts to kindly shut it down. She was in a relationship at the time, but Noelia made it clear she was interested in more. Nevertheless, she was happy to consider Ariana a special friend as she also knew they were meant for more. As that time passed, their lives remained intertwined through their passion for music, performance, and mutual friends. They stayed connected, feeling as though something was missing when too much time went by without one another. Surprisingly, it wasn’t until March 2018 that Ariana accepted an official invitation for a date. It was the night of St Patrick’s, and a wine bar in the arts district with board games set the tone of simple, pure love and laughter. After experiencing failed relationships in between, their lives had an everlasting effect on one another, never to fade. Only to blossom. By the summer, they were inseparable.

Question

In April 2019, they combined their homes as one and resembled a small family with Niko by their side.

Answer

They survived the 2020 pandemic, obviously. You could even say it deepened their connection as they navigated things together despite the infamous wave of “Pandemic Breakups”. Around this time, Ariana found Bird, their second pup, amidst the 2020 fires of Pasadena. Unwilling to send her off to a shelter, they boarded and trained her, but the immediate bond formed between Niko and Bird compelled them to keep her. And now there were four. They supported each other through many individual accomplishments. Noelia went on to obtain her Master's Degree in Accounting and enter the music industry world. Ariana, shortly after, went on to become a certified Music Therapist, as she is today, through a series of classes, exams, and an internship. Both held their promise to take turns and support each other to ensure their goals were met ahead of marriage. Today, they grieve the loss of Niko after his nearly 15 years as an angel on earth. He is missed and was an expected guest of the wedding; Niko will always be nuzzled in their hearts. Stripped to the absolute essence, this wedding is a special celebration of life and the accomplishments that have led to this moment, which followed many years of building it together. After success in their individual milestones, their dream was always to get married in celebration of it all, and that day has finally come. A very special thanks to all who never failed to share their love and support throughout this journey. Especially, those who are not with us anymore, but have left a permanent presence within us. Without you, this grand celebration would not be possible. Sincerely, Your LoveBirds in Los Angeles ❤️
