Ari & Steph met on the ancient forum OKC (IYKYK). Ari messaged Steph, skipped the small talk and cut straight to the real test: a steep hike in the Berkeley hills. Although not planned, the hike helped solve first date jitters as both of them were focused on breathing and staying alive. Steph did not hold it against Ari and they continued to see each other. Steph came to the city to meet Xavier and Gray, the ultimate test, and Steph was honored with a rare Gray appearance. They quickly found they had a lot in common: two sisters with similar age gaps, went to UC Berkeley, and both work in public health. Zoom forward 4 years, past many trips (Portugal, Hawaii, India, Hawaii, Germany, Japan, Hawaii, Hong Kong), to one very cold day in Seoul at the secret garden of Changgyeonggung, a Korean palace. Ari sat Steph down at a bench in the sun (not the closest bench which Steph thought was more practical) and asked her if she would like to spend the rest of their lives together. She said yes!
