FAQs

Question

Where is the wedding?

Answer

All of the wedding events will take place at Belvedere House & Gardens, no driving or relocating needed once you arrive!

Question

Do you have any hotel recommendations?

Answer

Yes! Please see the travel page on our website for recommendations. While we do not have a hotel block there are tons of great options listed there! If you still need help don’t hesitate to reach out to us, we would be happy to assist you with finding the perfect accommodations.

Question

Is there a dress code?

Answer

Semi-formal with a whimsical garden-party feel. Think flowy fabrics, floral prints, soft colors, and romantic touches. Since we’ll be celebrating outdoors, please choose shoes suitable for grass. In the spirit of sustainability, feel free to rewear something you love or find a special second-hand piece. Kindly avoid jeans, golf polos, or overly casual attire. If you’re looking for more inspiration reach out to Ariah she’s probably got a Pinterest board for this 😂

Question

What is the weather in Midcoast Maine in late August?

Answer

Late August in Midcoast Maine is usually warm and pleasant, with highs in the mid-70s- low 80’s and cool evenings in the upper 50s. Expect sunshine with a light coastal breeze and the chance passing shower. A wrap or light jacket is perfect once the sun sets. We’ll have a tented space for dinner and dancing with propane heaters (if needed) so everyone stays comfortable rain or shine.

Question

Is everything outdoors?

Answer

Yes! Our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception will all take place outdoors, surrounded by gardens and trees. We’ll have a tented area for dinner and dancing, but you can expect to spend most of the day enjoying the fresh air. Please plan your footwear and layers with that in mind—block heels or flats work best on grass, and a light wrap or jacket is great once the sun sets. There will be a cozy barn set up as a kids’ playroom for the evening, with attendants present throughout the event. This space is simply a courtesy for our littlest guests who might want a nap, some downtime, or non-adult activities while their parents celebrate nearby.

Question

So what if it rains?

Answer

Rain or shine, love always blooms. 🌿 If the weather decides to add a little “Maine mood” to the day, we’ll simply move the celebration under a beautiful tent on the grounds at Belvedere House & Gardens the garden magic will carry on, just with a few more glistening leaves. We’ll have everything covered (literally!)

Question

Are kids Invited?

Answer

Yes! We know many of our family and friends are traveling to celebrate with us, and we want everyone—big and small—to be part of the day. Children are warmly welcome throughout the celebration. To help make the evening fun for all ages, we’ll have a cozy barn playroom with attendants and kid-friendly activities. It’s a relaxed space for little ones who might need a nap, a snack break, or some playtime while the grown-ups dance under the lights. Parents are always welcome to join, and if you’d like to help oversee the “kid zone” at any point during the event, just let us know, we’d love the extra hands and friendly faces!

Question

Is it Accessible?

Answer

The gardens are mostly accessible, though some areas include gravel paths or grass. If you have any mobility needs, please let us know, we’ll make sure you’re comfortable and taken care of.

Question

What's the bathroom situation?

Answer

There will be luxury portable restrooms on-site — clean, spacious, and climate-controlled (nothing like the festival kind!). They’ll be conveniently located near the main event area and available throughout the day and evening. Please note that the main house will be reserved for the bridal party only.

Question

What about transportation and parking?

Answer

There’s a large parking lot directly across the street from the venue with plenty of space for all guests and vendors. You’re welcome to drive and park on-site, no shuttles are required. We still encourage carpooling when possible—it’s easier on the planet and makes arrival simpler for everyone. If you’re staying nearby, local rideshares and taxis are available, though limited in the area, so it’s best to plan ahead and schedule an uber if you plan to drink.

Question

Do you have a registry?

Answer

Your love and presence are the greatest gifts we could ask for. For those who wish to contribute something extra, we’ve created a simple cash fund to support our upcoming home renovations as we start this next chapter together.

Question

What is the Welcome Garden Party?

Answer

Before the ceremony begins, we’re inviting guests to join us for a Welcome Garden Party from 1:00–3:00 PM. This should be lighthearted start to the celebration filled with music, games, and a touch of whimsy. Wander the gardens, enjoy live music and yard games, or take part in our garden quest (a playful scavenger hunt among the blooms). There will also be crafts and creative touches for anyone who’d like to join in. We’ll have light drinks available, but no food will be served until cocktail hour from 4:00–5:00 PM, so please plan to have lunch before arriving. It’s a relaxed and joyful way to mingle, explore, and soak in the gardens before we gather for the ceremony at 3:30 PM.

Question

What's the dessert bar all about?

Answer

Ariah’s been hard at work learning how to keep Travis’s sweet tooth happy — but with so many bakers in the crowd (and whispers of a whoopie pie rivalry), we thought we’d open the floor. Our potluck-style dessert bar will feature treats made by our friends and family. If you’ve got a signature sweet — especially a whoopie pie worth bragging about — we’d love for you to share it! Recipe cards are included with your invitation. If you’d like to participate, please indicate this on your RSVP and send back your recipe so Ariah has no excuses not to keep the fat kid at heart fed. 😉

Question

What’s your approach to sustainability?

Answer

Okay, we know no one actually asked this; but if you know us, you probably saw it coming... We’re striving to make our celebration as close to zero-waste as possible. Ariah has spent months collecting vintage dishes and goblets and growing many of the flowers herself to bring this garden dream to life — every detail chosen with care and intention. To help us keep things planet-friendly, please refrain from bringing single-use plastics and toss any cans into the recycling bins placed throughout the venue. Thanks for helping us celebrate love in a way that’s kind to the earth, too. 🌸

Question

What's your phone policy

Answer

No one asked this either — but it’s an important one. 😉 We’re going "unplugged" for the ceremony because we want to see your faces, not your phones! Our photographer will be capturing the emotion of the day; including candid photos of our guests and it’s hard to get those beautiful, genuine shots when there’s a screen between you and the moment. So please keep phones tucked away during the ceremony and just be fully present with us. Once we’ve said “I do,” snap all the garden-party magic you want during cocktail hour and beyond!
