Fun Q & A With The Soon To Be Mr. & Mrs. Harrison

Let's Dig In!

How Did You Meet?

Arewa meets Omooba, April 27, 2013

Adeola: It was at a family friend’s graduation party. I noticed her with her parents but took her to be one of their granddaughters that came to pay them a visit as I had met her parents a couple of times in the past and I had never seen her with them. It was a huge surprise when my Dad introduced her to me as the last born of her parents. Seun: It was the summer of my sophomore year of undergrad when I followed my parents to a graduation party. At the party, Adeola’s Dad, who I was familiar with, introduced us to Adeola for the first time. Adeola and I struck a friendly conversation at the party which ended with us exchanging numbers.

What was your first impression of each other?

Adeola: I thought she was a granddaughter that came to pay her grandparents a visit. I thought I should approach her and say hello but felt she would probably go back to her base and forget about me. For some reason, I knew I just wanted to be her friend so I broke my all my rules when it comes to talking to a lady for the very first time. Seun: My first impression of Adeola was that he was a quiet gentleman who had just arrived from Nigeria aka JJC. Initially, I was hesitant to offer my number at the party. In my mind, it would be hard for Adeola to assimilate to the culture and there would be few things to talk about but a little voice in my mind pushed me to venture into this possibility of being friends with Adeola.

Where did you have your first date and how did it go?

Adeola: Donatos Pizza - I picked her right after work on a Saturday and we ordered a serious meat and chicken harvest salad. Afterward I helped her with her driving a little bit because she was going to take her test the following week. Seun: Adeola and I had been dating at this time but we had not given our relationship any official title. We decided to go on a formal outing to the Ace Asian Cafe in Dayton, Ohio. I guess he knew Chinese food was my favorite cultural food. The dinner went well and seemed more like an act of formality given that we knew each other well before then.

What are you most excited for on your wedding day?

Adeola: Dance, Dance, Dance and Dance again!!!!! On a more serious note, it’s to celebrate the most amazing beautiful girl GOD has blessed me with in front of GOD, friends and family. Seun: I am excited to share my vows with Adeola, our family, and friends. And of course, dance and enjoy good company.

One thing you’re looking forward to in marriage?

Adeola: Fulfilling GOD's purposes for our lives. Seun: I look forward to building and experiencing our own family traditions through the years.

Anything special you would like to tell your fiancé?

Adeola: No matter what the future holds, I promise to always love you, pray with and for you, and make you laugh more than I make you cry. Most importantly, GOD's got us. Seun: You have grown on me and I am grateful that our friendship took its course before it developed into a stronger relationship. It is your genuine, humble, selfless, God-fearing heart that nudged me to offer my phone number in the beginning and is what has continued to keep me falling for you. It is this person I am proud and honored to be marrying and to share the rest of my life with. I pray God continues to share His wisdom and guidance on how to treasure His son. I love you very much Adeola.
