There are plenty of hikes and nature trails around the area. Monticello and the Highlands both offer trails, as well as Ragged Mountain. You can even walk trails around the wedding venue grounds (https://www.themarketatgrelen.com/trails).
Head over to Lake Anna, a Virginia state park, to spend some time near the water. There's lots of things to do here!
Visit the DC area's only national park, there are trails and other outdoor activities here. Charlottesville is a 30 minute drive from the Rockfish Gap entrance station (southern entrance).
Take a day trip to Washington DC or Richmond, both less than a 2 hour drive away. We like DC, but Richmond has plenty to do and is a bit closer!
