Unfortunately, due to COVID-19 restrictions we have had to greatly limit the number of guests attending our wedding. We are still getting married August 8th, but it is limited to a select number of friends and family. We are sad to not see your smiling faces at the ceremony and on the dance floor, but we would treasure celebrating with you at our DRIVE BY RECEPTION!!! Decorate your car, come see us all dressed up, snap a picture and get some wedding cake! It’s not how we wanted it to be, but let’s make the most of what we can do in this crazy season! Drue and Arden had met at the library on Lipscomb University's campus and also interacted while being in the same wedding parties a couple of times, but they didn't really connect until Arden interviewed to be a team member on Drue's mission trip to the Tenderloin District of San Francisco. It was during this interview that Drue noticed "something different, something deeper" about Arden. She caught his eye and he knew he wanted to get to know her. They became friends through the mission trip, but Arden had no idea Drue was interested. She just thought Drue was a "really nice guy!" Eventually, with some help from her friends, Arden realized Drue wanted to be more than friends. It was a year after that mission trip interview that Drue (finally) caught Arden's eye.
We went on a bunch of dates. Took trips to Chattanooga to see friends. Ate a bunch of Baja Burrito, and cake from Coco's Italian. Shared deeply from our pasts, offered deep grace and understanding to one another, and grew more and more fond of each other. Neither of us would have admitted it at the time, but we were both certain we would marry each other from very early on in our relationship.
After Drue's A+ plans for a proposal were thwarted (because Arden is too smart to get anything past), it was time for another plan to come together. Perhaps the most surprising plan didn't have to be terribly intricate after-all. Arden and Elly went out for dinner, and as soon as they left the house it was time for Drue to takeover their dining room to decorate (see picture below) for a memorable evening. With Allie and Audrey's helps, the room came together. When Arden and Elly got home, they walked in the door to see Drue sitting at the kitchen counter waiting for them to return. He had parked around the corner so that Arden would not know he was there. The first words out of her mouth were, "What are you doing here?" It was pretty obvious what Drue was doing there. After waiting for some of Arden's tears to subside, Drue read Arden a letter that he had written. Once the letter had been read, Drue said, "I'm going to put this back in the envelope so you get to keep it forever. And now I have something else that I want you to keep forever." He unwrapped the ring from the box, got down on one knee, and proposed. Arden doesn't quite remember what she said, but after reviewing the video footage there is conclusive evidence to prove that she did indeed say, "Yes!"
