Question

How do I get to East Hampton?

Answer

If you're flying into JFK, you can take the train or a bus to East Hampton. Long Island Railroad: Take the Jamaica AirTrain to the Jamaica LIRR station. From there, check the schedules for the Montauk Line. The ride lasts about 2.5 hours. Make sure to get off at the East Hampton stop. There are usually taxi stationed there but you can always call an Uber if you need transportation to your hotel. (Download the MTA train time app) Hampton Jitney: Take a taxi from JFK to the Hampton Jitney Queens Airport Connection stop in Fresh Meadows. The stop is at the corner of 190th Street and the Eastbound Service Road of the L.I.E., getting off at the East Hampton stop on Main Street in front of the Palm Restaurant/Huntting Inn. You can purchase your ticket 21 days in advance or you can buy one on board the bus for an additional fee. We highly recommend purchasing ahead of time to secure your spot! Driving: Having a car is the most efficient way to get around the Hamptons, though it's not necessary. Parking it extremely limited at The Steiner Home, so we encourage car pooling and Uber as much as possible if car is your preferred method of transportation. From Points West: When you hit Long Island the best route will be to the take the LIE to exit 70 (about an hour and a half drive from Manhattan with no traffic), then get onto County Road 111. You will take this to the end, where you will be forced to take a left and merge onto NY27 ( Sunrise Highway). Take this all the way through Southampton (it will change to Country Road 39, but the road is the same), then make the left at the end onto Montauk Highway. From here you will pass through Watermill, Bridgehampton, Sagaponack, and finally East Hampton. Of course a GPS will help once you know where you're staying in the area! From Points East: If you're coming into East Hampton from the east, Montauk Highway will be the best way to get into town! That's part of the Hamptons charm - there's one way in and out.
