Our Story

Like many modern love stories, ours started with a swipe.

Amanda and Brandon matched on Tinder and, well, the rest is history — but getting there was an adventure of its own. Our first date came with a twist: it landed on a day that belonged to both of our families. Brandon's sister and Amanda's brother share the same birthday, which felt less like a coincidence and more like a sign from the universe that this whole thing was meant to happen. Of course, it was 2020, so a restaurant was out of the question. Brandon stepped up and cooked — salmon and asparagus, homemade, in his apartment. Amanda, being the reasonable and self-aware woman she is, quietly shared her location with her entire family before heading over. Safety first, romance second. (Brandon has since earned full trust — hence the wedding.) One COVID-era dinner, two nervous people, and a whole lot of good conversation later, something special had clearly begun. In the years since that first dinner, life has taken us everywhere. Brandon has lived through deployments to Afghanistan, and Amanda has stood by every step of the way. We've packed up and moved from Virginia to North Carolina and back again, figuring out each new chapter together. We bought our first home, built a life inside it, and somewhere along the way Brandon fully joined the Archer family — including their BBQ business. Naturally, he now has a smoker of his own. He fits right in. And then there's Dolph. Our dog. Our absolute world. He didn't ask to be the center of our universe, but here we are. When we haven't been busy building a life, we've been out living one. Jamaica, Key West, Georgia, Texas, Tennessee and more — we've made memories everywhere we've gone. Portugal is next on the list. Then came November 2024. Brandon laced up his shoes and ran 13.1 miles in a half marathon — and apparently decided that wasn't enough of a challenge for one day. Somewhere between the finish line and catching his breath, he got down on one knee and asked Amanda to marry him. After miles of pavement and everything the two of them had already been through together, the answer was easy. She said yes. We chose November 28th for our wedding date with a full heart. It falls the day after the birthday of Brandon's mom, who is no longer with us. Having her close in spirit on one of the biggest days of our lives felt right. We know she's celebrating right along with us. On November 28th, we're not just getting married — we're celebrating everything it took to get here. The distance, the moves, the hard days, the passport stamps, the BBQ smoke, and all the football rivalries in between — Brandon a devoted Atlanta Falcons fan, Amanda a ride-or-die Washington Commanders supporter. We're so grateful you'll be there with us.
