In 1999, Lauren was teaching 3rd grade at P.S. 28 in Washington Heights, N.Y. That summer, she was also teaching summer school. Rob was planning to start teaching 3rd grade in the fall and visited summer school to meet teachers and students. That fall, their classrooms were next to each other, rooms 227 and 229. They were friends for a year and started dating in 2000.

Having known each other for the last 25 years, Rob and Lauren have more than a couple of places they consider special or meaningful to their connection. They decided to propose to each other in all of their favorite places, not exactly knowing who would ask first! Special places include The Wonder Wheel at Coney Island, Taughannock Falls in Ithaca, Paddleboarding at Lake Hope, Ellington in the Park, Sharing Egg Creams at Brooklyn Farmacy, the beach at Cape Ann, and a Stevie Wonder concert. Seeing Stevie Wonder in concert together has been on their wishlist and recently they were able to make this happen.
