FAQs

Question

What's the Dress Code?

Answer

Black tie or fancy equivalent! Bow ties, long gowns, dinner jackets, and kilts. Dress to impress, but make sure you're ready for a ceilidh and grass. Navy dress: 2Bs (whites if it's really hot) and swords encouraged. Going for a swim? Bring a bathing suit! (There are changing rooms).

Question

Do I need to know how to ceilidh?

Answer

Of course not! The caller will teach you (and so will the wine).

Question

How do I get there/home?

Answer

For arrivals, we advise getting a taxi to the venue as there won't be space to park. For getting home, there will be a shuttle bus running from 2300 to the centre of Windermere, but taxis will also be available.

Question

What's the situation at the bar?

Answer

It's all free, baby. Put that cash away.

Question

When should I RSVP?

Answer

By 01 May 26. If you're on a submarine/ship, just let us know whenever.

Question

What's the venue like?

Answer

The venue is a marquee on a patch of grass outside a boathouse.

Question

Should I eat before I come?

Answer

Perhaps a light lunch. There will be nibbles on arrival, afternoon tea mid-afternoon, and pizza in the evening. There will also be a grazing table available throughout the day.

Question

Where should I stay?

Answer

We'd recommend Windermere or Bowness-on-Windermere, as this is near the venue and will be easily accessible via shuttle for heading home. Accomodation in the Lakes books up quickly, so it's a good idea to book early. For a cheaper option, you could camp at YHA Windermere. Feel free to message us if you're unsure on the best spots!
