We met in spring of 2016. We met through the local car scene with mutual car buddies. We clicked. Took us until spring of 2020 to get together. We each grew into what the other needed in those 4 years of friendship. And then it began April 26, 2020.
What some(or all) may not know is how impatient I(Aquila)grew waiting on this perfect man to propose to me. We went on vacation in spring of 2025 to one of my favorite childhood vacationing spots, Jekyll Island. I remember getting emotional the first night while out at dinner because he hadn’t proposed yet. He was calm and asked me if I trusted him. He had said this multiple times before. Of course I said yes. We finished dinner. The next evening on April 19, 2025 we were getting ready to have a couples photo session at the beach that I had set up because how dare we be together this long and not have any professional photos done! While walking Driftwood Beach with the photographer taking pictures, we came upon the wishing tree. The photographer explained the wishing tree, that people would make wishes and hang a seashell on the tree in hopes their wish would come true. We made a wish and hung our shell. About 5 minutes later he surprised me and the photographer both by getting down on one knee and pulling out the most gorgeous ring I had ever seen. I immediately tear up. First words out of my mouth were “no not here”. You may think why would you say that in that moment? In that moment I realized this man had planned to do this during this vacation and I had just lashed out the night before and I felt horrible. Which was why I had that response. Of course after I got past the initial shock and guilty feelings from getting emotional before, I said yes and hugged him. I was so happy. The photographer turned it from a couples session to an engagement session. She asked if my wish had come true and I told her yes! I had dreamt of that moment since I was a little girl. My moment had finally came.
