Over the last year, many things have changed for everyone. We would still love for everyone to come, but we understand that for many reasons you may not be able to attend or may not feel comfortable attending a larger gathering. We understand that everyone will make the best decisions for themselves and their families. The world turned upside down and we're all trying to make the best of it. While we are not requiring people to be vaccinated to attend, we highly encourage everyone to do so. For your convenience, we will have masks and hand sanitizer available for those who will want to utilize them.
After a really hard year, we hope you are ready to celebrate with good food, music and a couple of drinks. ;)
Sid: When I told April, back in 2010, that I'd gotten us tickets to San Diego Comic-Con, I was not met with the excitement I expected. I had gone the year before and wanted to share the experience with her but I'd admittedly done a poor job of explaining what the event really was. Fortunately for me, the first time April saw the exhibit floor she was hooked and we've been lucky enough to go back every year since. It only seemed fitting that I propose at the place where we'd shared so many memories over the last decade. We've done a lot in and around the convention center but one of my fondest memories with my future wife was camping out on the Embarcadero park hoping to get wristbands for Hall H. With a little help from our friends (shoutout to Alyssa and Leslie), I proposed to April looking out at Coronado Island with the convention center behind us. We may not get always get to back to SDCC but she's the one I want to share all my adventures with. April: Comic-con has become a holy tradition over the last few years. Every July we make our way to the San Diego Convention Center for four days of nerding out. Some of my favorite memories together are in that convention center. So when Sid suggested we go to the water front a few days before the 2018 comic con extravaganza, I didn’t really think it was anything out of the ordinary. He led me there under the guise of playing some Pokémon Go, grabbing some lunch and watching the Comic-Con decor go up on the hotels near by. The day was sunny and beautiful. ‘Perfect for catching Magikarp!’ I thought. He popped the question by the water and I was completely surprised. After a few tears and a ‘Yes!’ I was surprised once more when our friends Leslie and Alyssa revealed they captured the whole thing! (You can definitely hear me saying ‘There’s no Magikarp around here!’) And so Comic-Con holds an even more special place in my heart.
