Both the ceremony and reception will be held outdoors overlooking the ocean at Villa La Joya. The space includes shaded areas, but we recommend dressing comfortably for warm weather.
This is a tropical formal event. Think elevated, elegant, but breathable, and comfortable for warm, humid Cancun weather. We expect the temperature to be around 80°F, with a light breeze in the evening. We recommend bringing sunscreen, sunglasses, and a light wrap for cooler evenings. Ladies, floor-length or ankle-length dresses preferred. Linking our Pinterest board below for inspiration. https://pin.it/2DzV96xnu

Absolutely! English is widely spoken in Cancún and Playa del Carmen, especially in tourist-friendly spots like hotels, restaurants, and shops. That said, locals always appreciate a little Spanish effort! Here are a few easy phrases to keep in your back pocket: Hola – Hello Gracias – Thank you Por favor – Please La cuenta, por favor – The check, please ¿Dónde está el baño? – Where’s the bathroom? ¿Cuánto cuesta? – How much does it cost? Habla inglés? – Do you speak English? Don’t worry if you’re not fluent—kindness and a smile go a long way!
Cancún and Playa del Carmen are packed with unforgettable experiences! Whether you’re up for exploring cenotes, visiting ancient Mayan ruins, relaxing at beach clubs, or indulging in delicious local cuisine, there’s something for everyone. Please refer to our "Things to Do" Section for more information.
When going off-property, you can take an Uber or a Taxi (hotel recommended).
Mexico uses the same as in the United States, so if you're coming from the U.S., you won't need a power adapter or converter. Just pack your regular chargers and you're good to go!
Tipping is customary and appreciated in Mexico, especially in tourist areas like Cancún and Playa del Carmen. Here’s a quick guide: Restaurants: 10–20% of the bill (cash preferred). Hotel staff: $1–2 USD per bag for bellhops, and a few dollars per day for housekeeping. Shuttle/taxi drivers: $2–5 USD depending on distance or level of service. Tour guides: 10–15% of the tour cost. Many workers rely on tips, so even small amounts go a long way. U.S. dollars are widely accepted, but tipping in pesos is also great!
We totally understand the concern! Like any travel destination, it's important to stay aware of your surroundings, but many areas in and around Cancun/Playa del Carmen are very tourist-friendly and safe—especially when using trusted transportation and sticking to well-known spots. We recommend using hotel-recommended taxis or pre-arranged shuttles when going off-property, and traveling during daylight hours & in groups when possible. We've visited ourselves and felt comfortable and welcomed every time!
