How We Met

Chili's had MORE than ribs :-)

In October 2012, I was hired as a server at Chili's Bar and Grill. One week later, before even starting, I called and told the manager "thanks but not thanks" regarding the job offer. A few things transpired and I called back to Chili's to see if I could still keep the job. The manager said YES and I started the very next day. As a server, we all know how it is in a restaurant with the cooks, lol. One day, I'm rolling silverware before my shift and this tall, brown skin cook comes around the corner with an amazing smile and batting these long eyelashes. He asks me my name and introduces himself. Cue the unsolicited rumors about him, lol. He was the "Biggest Flirt" in the house and had a big "following". Turns out, none of that was true. Granted he was a HUGE flirt, but absolutely harmless. A co-worker I often worked with, Charles, kept telling me to give him my number, lol. Finally, on the day of Superbowl 2013, when Beyoncé was performing, I told Charles to give him my number. We talked and honestly go to know each other. Our stories were similar; still legally married, but separated and trying to co-parent. My little brother was the FIRST family member to meet him and was like "April, I like him." We supported each other in trying to mend ourselves and become better people. He went to CDL school and I finished my degree and graduated in Medical Office Administration. When I decided to move back to NC in July 2017, it hurt my heart because I just knew we would be over. He was Shreveport born and bred, and I couldn't ask him to leave his entire life. To my surprise, he said "Ok, I'm moving too". On Friday, September 13, 2019, after 6 years, he got on one knee and asked me to be his forever. I said YES! We are about to become a blended family of 10 kids, 3 grandkids, and a fur baby, lol. I couldn't be happier. My girls love him as their step-father and he treats them like the princesses they are. On October 10, 2020, I will become Mrs. April Mason.

For all the days along the way
