We met as co-workers who lived in different states but often worked on similar projects together. I was attracted to his witty sense of humor, blue eyes, and buff arms, while Travis was attracted to how passionate and hard-working I was in my position at the company. After learning more about each other and our similar tastes in music, we continued to talk and feelings continued to grow. After a lot of Snapchats and texting, I surprised him in Cincinnati at a surprise going away party hosted by his friends. We spent the weekend together and from there, we traveled to see each other monthly for a year and half. In August of 2019, Travis made the move from Austin to Raleigh so that we could be together full-time and on June 13th, 2020, he proposed!
Engaged in the middle of a pandemic! We can't wait to tell our children and grandchildren about that one. Travis had gone ring shopping a few months prior and made it seem as though he didn't know when the ring he purchased would come in by faking a phone call with the jeweler about a delay. He knew I could hear the conversation, so I figured it may not happen until late 2020 or 2021. A month prior to the proposal, he told me to go ahead and put a co-worker's cookout on the calendar for June 13th. Two weeks prior, he told me that he wanted to do something nice for me since I hadn't gotten my nails done and called to schedule my manicure and pedicure for the upcoming week. Travis is always spoiling me so I didn't think twice about the reasoning for it... and I figured he thought I really needed it after seeing my feet! I later came to find out that he also called my hair stylist to push my appointment up to that week before too! He didn't leave anything off the table. We had planned to film a house Q&A for his YouTube channel at the land where we're building our house on prior to the cookout, since his coworkers lives in Holly Springs as well. When we got there, they were working on our house and Travis didn't know where he was going to set up his camera and drone to film the video. He ended up moving the set-up to the next house over and when we started filming, he popped the question! I was so surprised and excited! I don't even remember what he said and neither does he but luckily, we have it all on video. He even had a photographer hiding to capture the moment and she spent the next few hours with us taking pictures. Turns out, there was no cookout! We went back to our apartment because we wanted to get some pictures with our puppy, Alfie, and he had planned for my best friend and family to be there waiting for us! We ate dinner together and celebrated the special moment surrounded by some of the people we love most.
