Lamont's version Some time ago like a long time ago we were friends. Then life happened. I went my way, doing my own thing, and Ashley went her way, doing hers. Fast forward about 18 or 19 years later, I ran into Ashley at the store. She was checking me out. I said, “Hey,” she said, “Hey,” and I just kept it moving, not thinking much of it. Next thing I know, I get a message from her on Facebook. I’m like, “Yeah… she must really want me let me see what she’s talking about.” After that, we started kicking it, and it felt like we picked up right where we left off all those years ago. But this time, it turned into something special. Now we’ve created our own family, and it’s been a fun, crazy ride and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. Ashley's Version Lamont and I met about 18 years ago and became friends. Back then, we were always on the phone late at night, talking about basketball (something we both loved) and whatever else was on our minds. He was such a sweet guy. But, like always, life happened and took us in different directions. A few years ago, I was shopping in Marshalls and ran into Lamont for the first time in years. I had what some would call butterflies I was so excited to see my long-lost friend. I said, “Hi, Lamont,” and he gave me a quick, professional, “Hey, how you doing,” and kept it moving. About a week later, I decided to message him on Facebook about him being weird at Marshalls lol… and from that moment on, everything changed. We found ourselves talking for hours again, just like we used to but this time, it was different. It was intentional. We opened up about our past, understanding who we had become, and being honest about what we wanted for our future. What started as friendship turned into something even more special. Fast forward 4 years and here we are with a big, beautiful family we've built together. The Truth What we didn’t know at the time is that, for months leading up to the day we ran into each other, we were both praying very specific prayers to God. I can laugh about it now, because there was a time when I thought God had forgotten about me. But being with Lamont reminds me every day that God didn’t forget I just hadn’t made myself available yet. Lamont also reminds me often how glad he is that God sent me to him. Our love story is a reminder that nothing is too difficult for God. He can take what’s broken and restore it we just have to let Him. Now here we are, choosing each other every day, building a life together, and getting ready to say “I do.” We are so thankful for the journey, for each other, and for the life we’re creating. We’re beyond excited to stand before our family and friends and make… #APiggiePromise 💍
