Chad had moved to North Carolina from New York and Apiffany had just moved back to North Carolina from California. The original plan was to go to Hanging Rock State Park to hike for the first date. However, Apiffany realized, due to her extreme love of thrillers, she probably should not go hiking with a stranger as planned. Instead, the two met at Jugghead's in Winston-Salem where Apiffany had a stout and Chad had a cider and the two talked for hours (mainly Apiffany).

On December 2, 2018, Chad and Apiffany visited the Whitewater Center in Charlotte for a day of ziplining and ropes courses. The day started out as a rainy and chilly day and Apiffany asked Chad if they should still go. Chad was persistent so they went and the center was empty and the weather was perfect. After completing the river ropes courses and ziplining and a quick lunch (and beer), Chad suggested they climb to the top of the tower and complete the 100-foot free fall. Since Apiffany and Chad are equally adventurous, and why not?!, they climbed. Chad suggested he go first. Once Apiffany got to the bottom with her adrenaline in full-swing, Chad ran over and got down on one knee. Chad even got another free-faller to take the video and the rest is history!

1. We have four rescue pups--Maple, Guster, Diggle, and Maya. We foster dogs as well and have had as many as 8 dogs at our house at one time. 2. We often make up embarrassingly silly songs and dances. 3. We really enjoy craft beer and collect growlers from various breweries we have visited around the country. 4. In our first year of dating, we traveled to Asheville, New York, Niagara Falls, Miami, Washington DC, and Charleston together. 5. Chad is a runner, Apiffany is not. Yet Apiffany has signed the two up for numerous runs and complains the entire time.
