Katie and Ben met on Coffee Meets Bagel, a dating site named after two things they think are delicious. Unfortunately, Ben was in Stow, OH, south of Cleveland, and Katie was working on a research project hundreds of miles away in Highland Park, NJ. After a few weeks of modern day penpalling, Katie and Ben finally went on a first date at the nerdiest place they could find, the Museum of Natural History. They both knew they had found love, and after Katie returned to NJ, Ben booked a flight to New York City so they could spend New Year's Eve together.

Soon after, Katie returned to Cleveland, wondering where in the country she would end up in the Residency Match. To ease their nerves, Ben and Katie began planning a trip to Ireland which would be Ben's first time out of the country (Canada doesn't count). After learning Katie matched into the Cleveland Clinic General Surgery residency and would spend at least a decade in Cleveland, Ben and Katie jetted off to Ireland on the first of many adventures together.

Tired of living almost an hour apart, Katie and Ben (and Ben's dog, Amicus) decided to move into an apartment in the Ohio City neighborhood of Cleveland, which is known for its walkability, many restaurants, and charming historic houses. Soon after, Ben proposed. Within a year, there was a new addition to the family, an adorable kitten named Chai.

Ben and Katie (and especially Amicus) loved the walkability and many eateries of Ohio City. After a summer working at one of these delicious restaurants, The Black Pig, Ben decided to return to the restaurant business at a charming Parisian-inspired cafe, Le Petit Triangle. To round out all the things they love about Ohio City, Ben and Katie purchased one of the historic homes they enjoyed walking past, a 100+ year old row house in the up-and-coming Hingetown section of Ohio City.

Katie and Ben were faced with the choice of having the wedding they had planned or the wedding WHEN they planned. They chose both. On August 8, 2020, Katie and Ben were married in the English courtyard garden at Stan Hywet Hall, joined only by immediate family. And on August 28, 2021, they ask you to join them at Glidden House, to celebrate their first year of marriage.
